Privacy first Moments Studio

Questions to ask before sharing information

A privacy checklist for AI conversations, account settings, permissions, and the details you can leave out.

For reflective imaginations

For a Studio routine, decide what belongs in an online prompt and what belongs in your private notebook. The conversation can supply a question about noticing a pleasant detail without receiving your full answer. If a writing exercise touches on another person, use a broad fictional situation rather than their messages or history. Your reflective practice can remain useful even when the service learns very little about you. Read current privacy information before changing that boundary.

A few quiet minutes can be a starting point for a story, a question, or a different point of view. These guides approach AI conversation as an intentional creative activity.

An idea to try / Moments Studio

Separate prompt from private response

  1. Ask for one question about an ordinary creative moment.
  2. Write the real answer in a notebook you control.
  3. If you need a follow-up, describe an invented example instead.

A fictional creative exercise. Adapt or skip any step to suit your own boundaries.

01

Read for practical answers

Look for an explanation of what information is collected, how conversations are used, how long information is retained, and whom to contact with questions. Check whether different account types or settings have different rules. If a statement is unclear, ask the provider to explain it in writing before relying on an assumption.

The FTC's online privacy guidance covers how websites and apps collect information and how settings and permissions affect sharing. A useful personal habit is to review both the service and your device. An account setting, a browser permission, and an operating-system permission can address different parts of the experience.

02

Use a minimum-detail version of your prompt

Replace an exact name with a role, a specific address with an invented location, and a personal document with a short fictional summary. For example, “Help me write a friendly invitation to a community event” does not need a contact list. You can fill in the real event details later, in a document you control.

Keep passwords, verification codes, government identifiers, financial details, and other people's private messages out of creative chat. Review any pasted text before sending it. Screenshots can contain account names, tabs, notifications, or location clues that are easy to overlook when the main image seems harmless.

03

Make a simple decision rule

Decide which information you are comfortable using online before a conversation becomes absorbing. If a prompt would need details you prefer to keep private, reframe the task or complete it offline. Privacy choices should remain yours; a fictional character's request does not create a reason to disclose something.

  • What does this task actually need?
  • Can I replace the detail with a fictional example?
  • Do I understand the current privacy terms?
  • Would I be comfortable retaining this prompt in an online account?

A few useful answers

Common questions

Does a private browser window make a chat confidential?

Do not treat a browser mode as a substitute for the provider's privacy terms. Check what the service says about data handling, and avoid submitting sensitive information in the first place.

What if I already shared something I regret?

Review the provider's current support and privacy channels. Ask about available deletion or account controls without assuming that closing a tab removes information held by the service.
